The Gangline Leadership Story

The Story Behind the Name

For years I have been fascinated by sled dog racing, in particular the Iditarod, which is a race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. I am most in awe of what it takes to compete in the race. One part is a well trained team of dogs. If you have ever seen sled dogs running, they love their job, look forward to it every day and will always give it all they have. Another part needed to successfully compete is a "musher" who knows the way, can sense when to push or pull back on the team, protects the team from threats like moose, themselves, the environment and, most importantly, gets his team to the finish line. So here is where I will tie it all together. Each dog is hooked to the "gangline" which is hooked to the front of the sled. The "gangline" helps keep them together and working as a team with guidance from the "musher."

I share this picture of a sled dog race for the purpose of drawing an analogy to organizational leadership. Every organization must have the best "team" possible if it is going to achieve its mission despite perilous conditions and threat of outside forces that would keep it from the finish line. Any successful organization must also have a qualified leader who understands his team, nurtures his team, and can lead them on a successful journey at the right pace.

The questions any successful leader must ask him or herself include, do I have the right team in place? Is my team aligned in such a way that team members can perform their role at an optimal level? Am I providing the right environment for my team to develop and achieve the vision?

I am a proven leader who has developed many successful teams that led to the accomplishment of significant organizational goals. I have what it takes to help your company "go to the next level" by developing a leadership culture in your organization that will take you from where you are to where you need to go! I would love to help you and your organization develop the necessary skills to perform at a higher level.
